Four places, one valley
The Worth Valley is not one housing estate. Haworth has a steep cobbled main street and heavy visitor traffic. Oakworth is the village between Haworth and Keighley, with lanes and a heritage station. Oxenhope is further up, quieter on a weekday and tighter at the last gate. Stanbury sits on the moor edge, where Main Street is narrow and the weather is more exposed.
All of them are normal house moves for a local team. All of them punish a van that arrives without a plan.
What to photograph
- The lane, including the narrowest point and any gate.
- Steps from the road to the door.
- The stair inside, especially a turn on the landing.
- Where a van could wait if it cannot stop at the door.
The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway brings cars on operating days. School runs in Haworth, Oakworth and Oxenhope use the same short roads. Early starts can be planned before visitors arrive.
Schools, council and the tip
These villages are in Bradford district. Admissions and bins are Bradford Council. The household waste site most people use is on Royd Ings Avenue in Keighley. Read the Haworth page for local contacts, and the house removals page for the move itself.
