Moving tips for college students

Term dates are fixed. Pack small, label your room, and do not move the landlord's sofa.

Student boxes stacked in a hallway

Keep it smaller than you think

Keighley College is by the station, and students also live in shared houses around Keighley Town Centre, Ingrow and Bingley. The move is a room and some kitchen things. It becomes expensive when the list quietly includes a house of furniture that is not yours.

The practical service is student removals. A fuller shared house with your own furniture may be a flat move. Say which.

A short list that prevents the usual mess

  • Small boxes for books. Test the weight before you tape it.
  • Your name and the new room on every box.
  • Laptop, ID and medication in a bag you carry.
  • Checkout time written down, and the time the new key works.
  • Nothing from the landlord unless the agreement says it is yours.
  • A parent can book. Someone with keys must be at both ends.

September fills the diary

Do not wait until the week everyone else moves. If the new room is not ready until afternoon and checkout is morning, tell us both times. We may sequence the day. We cannot park a van for hours outside a hall.

Downsizing in Keighley

A smaller home is a sorting job first and a moving job second. Decide what will not fit before the van is booked.

Moving out of Keighley

A longer move is the same house, plus a journey. Plan both ends before you fix the day.
